![]() Also getting cloth for the sails is a long process - you need about 30 cotton to make the 5 cloth for the sail and twice as much for each mast. I built the small boat with sail but I didn't want to explore until I made a map first. Reportedly, the sails can be replaced by one of two types of engines (the engines also power a car chassis - though you can also tame a horse to get around the islands faster - though there is a glitch that you can't transport the horses via the ships). There are 4 types of boats - a simple log raft, a small boat with a sail, a medium ship which requires masts with sails and a large ship with multiple masts and sails. ![]() There are also arctic, tundra/taiga, temperate and arid/sand types of islands. ![]() You always start on a rainforest island but the 2-3 prebuilt areas will vary (I was looking for one with a house so I didn't need to build one ). Reportedly there are about 8-15 islands (each a fair size - takes around 1 game day to walk around the entire coastline of an island). Here is a picture of my base so far: the house, forge and furnace were already prebuilt - but I added a paper press to get a map made - also added a kiln to get charcoal, lots of bamboo chests for storage, spinning wheel and weaving loom to get cloth from cotton (or flax) and tanning rack to get leather.
